The Macedonian Environmental Information Center was founded in April 1998 and its activity is carried out through four departments:
- Air Quality Monitoring Department
- Analytics and Reporting Department
- Cadastre and Modeling Department
- Department of Information Technology
The main function of MICZHS is the collection, processing, analysis and presentation of relevant data for the media and areas in the environment. For this purpose, in accordance with the legal regulation, MICZHS collects all information about the state of the environment, from the self-monitoring of various institutions and other sources, as well as from its own monitoring.
To manage data on the state of the environment, it establishes, develops, leads and coordinates a National Information System for the Environment.
Manages the State automatic monitoring system for ambient air quality, which consists of 21 fixed and one mobile monitoring station.
Establishes a database for records of pollutants and sources of pollution that release pollutants and substances into the environment.
The reports on the state of the environment and national indicators are available to the public through the WEB pages of the Ministry of Education and Culture, as well as through appropriate information materials: brochures, reports, etc.
