Shukova: We connect European mechanisms with international ones, for more efficient fulfillment of global goals and obligations and the European Green Agenda

Within the framework of the 7th Assembly of the Global Environment Facility, the Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Kaja Shukova, addressed the plenary session “Solutions for a Healthy Planet: Integrated Responses to Reduce Environmental Degradation on a Global Level”.

1She was dedicated to the importance of an integrated approach in understanding the environment and reducing degradation in the direction of maintaining and restoring the health of the Planet, as a necessary condition and basis for sustainable resilient societies.

The session discussed experiences in implementing such responses, identified successes, failures and trade-offs, and highlighted directions and approaches that the GEF can take and support as it develops its own programming strategies and investments.

In her intervention, Minister Shukova referred to national experiences and emphasized the need to connect environmental policies and climate action through the intersection of international and European mechanisms.

2According to Shukova, in this way an inclusive and harmonized approach is established and it also facilitates the implementation of the obligations of international legally binding agreements and the European Green Agenda as our national and global priorities in the environment.
