“From vision to reality: Demir Kapija protected area”

The Deputy Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Hristina Odzaklieska, participated in the first of a series of cultural events organized within the framework of the launched initiative to re-proclaim the Demirkapi Gorge as a protected area, which will ensure active protection of a part of the lower reaches of the Vardar River and its clean and pristine tributaries.

zamenikdemir kapijaThe re-proclamation procedure was initiated by the Center for Environmental Research and Information “Eco-awareness” in cooperation with the Municipality of Demir Kapija and with the support of the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning.

Today’s event is entitled “From vision to reality: Demir Kapija protected area”, and aims to convey the message about the importance of nature protection and the benefits that this region will enjoy.

- Protected areas today are faced with the challenge of doing much more than just preserving natural values. They have the task of improving people’s well-being, providing economic benefits in several sectors, but also enabling the rich biodiversity to be properly managed, such as the example of Demir Kapija – emphasized Deputy Minister Odzaklieska.
