Nuredini and Dimitrov at the 5th meeting of the Sectoral Monitoring Committee for Environment within IPA II

Sostanok_Nuredini_Dimitrov_1The focus of today’s 5th meeting of the Environmental Sector Monitoring Committee within IPA II was the multi-annual operational program for 2014-2020 in the environment and climate action sector. It is a portfolio of 47 projects and approximately 135 million euros of IPA funds that the state must use to implement the projects no later than 2025. The progress in the implementation of the projects for construction of a collector system in Skopje, construction of wastewater treatment plants in Bitola and Tetovo, expansion of the sewerage network in Kicevo, construction of an integrated solid waste treatment system in the eastern and northeastern region were reviewed, as well as projects that assist in the process of harmonization of the Macedonian legislation with the European acquis.

Expressing gratitude for the support we receive from the European Union, especially for the financial assistance provided by the IPA program, in his speech Minister Nuredini emphasized the readiness of the Ministry to make maximum efforts in the implementation of the initiated projects, emphasizing that these investments will not only protect the environment, but it will also improve the quality and standard of living of our citizens. The meeting was headed by the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs Nikola Dimitrov and in his speech, with the announcement of new initiatives from the European Union, the European plan and investments, as well as the Green Agenda for the countries of the Western Balkans it becomes clear that the time of comfort is over and that we have a great chance through EU funds to ensure European standards in our everyday life. As he mentioned, the focus is on fresh air, clean drinking water, solid waste treatment, protection of biodiversity and ensuring a better and healthier life for Macedonian citizens.
