MOEPP: Info day for the LIFE Program for environmental protection and climate activities, the public informed about access to funds

- We are proud to be the first in the region of candidates and potential candidates to sign the Agreement for participation in the Life Program of the European Union, which will provide us with the opening of the new opportunities to apply for projects that will improve the environment and contributed to the fight against climate change. The activities supported by this Program are expected to contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and reduce vulnerability to the harmful effects of climate change. They will restore and improve the quality of the environment, including air, water and soil, and will affect the reduction of the loss of biodiversity and degradation of nature – said Minister Shukova at the first information day for the LIFE Program, which was held today in the premises of the Secretariat for European Affairs.

LIFE_ProgramaThe LIFE program is the only EU program dedicated specifically to environment and climate action and EU financial instrument that has a key role in supporting the implementation of Union legislation and policies in those areas. With this, it aims to facilitate the transition to a sustainable, circular, energy efficient and climate-resistant economy, based on renewable energy sources.

LIFE_Programa_1The agreement for the participation of our country in this Program was signed in July 2023, with a time frame from 2023 to 2027, and for participation in the given time frame, the MOEPP provided an appropriate financial contribution for the use of this program for each year.

LIFE_Programa_2The info day about the LIFE Program enabled the exchange of experiences and good practices and the initiation of partnerships and activities to deal with some of the most urgent environmental threats known under the term “Triple Planetary Crisis”, and the application rules for the EU LIFE projects were also explained.
