(01.08.2019) Ana Petrovska, State Secretary in the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning had a working meeting with the Mayor of Makedonska Kamenica, Sonja Stamenkova on a topic “Benefits of the Implementation of the project for regional waste management in the East and North- East region in the Municipality of Makedonska Kamenica”. At the meeting were also present Members of the Council of the Municipality of Makedonska Kamenica, the director and representatives of the PE Kamena Reka.
The current situation and the ways in which the Municipality of Makedonska Kamenica handles waste storage and waste management were also discussed during the meeting.
During the event, the existing landfill was visited, which will be completely cleaned. They also met with the local population who expressed their satisfaction with the realization of the project activities that will systematically address the problems with illegal landfills that present a potential danger to the health of the residents who live in their immediate vicinity.
Main benefits of the project will be cleaning of the existing landfill in the municipality, the construction of new transfer station as well as the utility will receive new waste collection truck and new waste selection containers.
The meeting with the citizens emphasized the need of joint actions of the municipality, the Ministry and local NGO’s to educate and raise the public awareness of the local population in order to urgently make the selection and proper waste disposal work, while monitoring the realization and providing better control and insight into the functioning of the entire system.
All envisaged project solutions will be implemented in line with EU standards in this field.
