Deputy Minister Makraduli at the World Conference on ecosystem services in Hanover, Germany

Makraduli_Hanover_2(22.10.2019) Deputy Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Jani Makraduli is currently attending the World Conference on ecosystem services which is being held in Hanover, Germany from 21 to 25 October.

During the Conference, Deputy Minister Makraduli met with the Director General of the Directorate General for Nature Conservation and Sustainable Use of Natural Resources of the German Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, Christiane Paulus.

Paulus welcomed the progress our country is making in introducing the concept of ecosystem services on national level, as well as both sides exchanged experiences on the concept implementation and discussed opportunities for future cooperation.

Expert -level cooperation was agreed under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety to assist in the implementation of the concept of ecosystem services at institutional level and discussed the introduction of a payment mechanism for ecosystem services as well.

At the meeting Makraduli and Paulus also discussed the Natura 2000 as an extremely important component for harmonization in the European legislation in the field of nature conservation.
