EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK 2015

Choose.Change.Combine.

From 16 to22 September, for 14th time, Macedonia is joining actively the marking of the European Mobility Week, which will be organized this year under the motto “Choose, change, combine”. Different activities in the area of sustainable transport will be organized during the whole week: improvement of public transport, development of cycling, promotion of electric mobility, improvement of traffic infrastructure, etc. The peak of the campaign will take place on 22 September when total of 1648 cities and towns from 42 countries in Europe and beyond will organize the Car Free Day to remind the citizens throughout Europe that street, traffic jam and air pollution resulting from transport depend on us. We decide whether we will travel along streets by car, public transport, bicycle or walking and this way choose the conditions in which we live.

This year, marking of the European Mobility Week will be officially joined by 15 cities and towns from Macedonia (Berovo, Bitoila, Veles, Kichevo, Kochani, Negotino, Shtip, Skopje, Nov Dojran, Ohrid, Strumica, Pehchevo, Kriva Palanka, Kumanovo and Prilep). By applying short-term and lasting measures, these cities and towns will contribute to increased publicawareness that air pollution is directly dependent on the choice of their transport and all of us as citizens are responsible for the air we breathe.

The activity is organized at the initiative of the European Commission and three European organizations play key roles in coordination of the activities and promotion of the overall manifestation, namely: Eurocities, ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability и Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe.
